Thanksgiving in Japan

Although celebrated differently, Japan and the United States actually share a few holidays with each other. Well known holidays like Halloween and Christmas have blended over from the west and have created a unique home in the east. Surprisingly, Japan also has a Thanksgiving. Although it’s vastly different from the motifs of turkeys and pilgrims we associate it with in the states. In Japan, Thanksgiving works as a sort of labor day for everyone. It’s a time to give back to those in the community and literally give thanks. It’s a day you ultimately spend with your family over a large meal.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
